The Phantom of the Opera, Broadway musical
Guía rápida
The Phantom of the Opera is a classic Broadway musical that you can no longer see. In 2023 it took its final bow, after 35 straight years of performances. It's the longest-running musical on Broadway and the second most-watched musical in history!
As a tribute, I'm keeping this article up about the musical with the electrifying music of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Remember, to really say you've been to New York you have to see a Broadway musical. It won't be The Phantom of the Opera anymore, but how about seeing Wicked, to learn the story of Oz before Dorothy showed up?

The plot of The Phantom of the Opera
The musical is based on the novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by French writer Gaston Leroux (1910).
Like the book, it tells the story of a mysterious, disfigured composer at the Paris Opera, obsessed with the gorgeous aspiring soprano Christine Daaé.
It features classic theater special effects, the best of them when the phantom appears and disappears. You'll love it!
Andrew Lloyd Webber, a Broadway icon
Andrew Lloyd Webber, who wrote the music for The Phantom of the Opera, is a renowned London-born theater composer.
His compositions have been hits on Broadway and London's West End for years. Among them, famous musicals like Evita and Cats.
