Queens Botanical Garden: Hours, Prices and How to Get There
Guía rápida
The lovely Queens Botanical Garden is a park right next to the huge Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the biggest park in Queens and one of the largest parks in New York.
What to see at the Queens Botanical Garden

If you're visiting Flushing Meadows Corona Park, home to the Queens Museum, the Mets stadium and the complex where the US Open is played, among other attractions, stop by this botanical garden to enjoy its collection of trees and species from all over the world.
You can also wander through beautiful rose gardens and Asian-inspired waterfalls. This park is a favorite among locals from Flushing and other Queens neighborhoods for picnics on the lawns during the spring and summer months.
The history of the Queens Botanical Garden goes back to the 1939 World's Fair, when the whole area was redeveloped to host that major event.
Several of its themed gardens and historic plantings date from those years (you can browse the collections on the official site).
You can visit this Queens park year-round, and if you're into plants you'll appreciate knowing in advance which species will be in full bloom during the month of your visit.
Free admission hours
From November through March, admission to the Queens Botanical Garden is completely free.
If you travel in late March, you'll catch the first cherry blossoms budding. In October and November, on the other hand, you'll see the spectacular way the leaves change color for fall.
Between April and October there are a few free admission windows: every Wednesday from 3 to 6 pm and Sundays from 9 to 11 am.
