Silvercup Studios: The Studio Behind Famous NYC Shows
Silvercup Studios: The Studio Behind Famous NYC Shows
Guía rápida
Silvercup Studios is the largest film and television production complex in New York.
It sits inside a former industrial building in Long Island City, the Queens neighborhood that today is packed with luxury buildings, galleries and museums devoted to contemporary art, like MoMA PS1, the Isamu Noguchi Museum and Socrates Sculpture Park.

And obviously, if you're reading this you like movies, so don't miss the Museum of the Moving Image, also in Long Island City. As you can see, a lot happens in this corner of Queens and it's worth a visit (it's also a great place to stay in New York, since it's close to Manhattan and cheaper).
What I don't understand is why Silvercup doesn't offer tours of its facilities. Even so, I wanted to write about it because of how much it matters to New York's cultural landscape, and because you'll almost certainly spot its famous sign when you ride the 7 train 🙂
Shows filmed at Silvercup Studios
Just to give you a sense of the scale of what gets shot at Silvercup Studios in Queens, here's a sample: this is where they filmed 30 Rock, White Collar, Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl, The Sopranos (there's a Sopranos locations tour in New Jersey!) and Sex and the City (there's a Sex and the City tour too!).
Silvercup has also produced memorable movies like The Devil Wears Prada and Gangs of New York, plus countless music videos for artists including Beyoncé, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Limp Bizkit, George Michael, Nine Inch Nails, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.
